TRANSITIONS - ADVOCACY COORDINATOR

TRANSITION COORDINATOR: 

Follows Employment First Initiatives rules for county boards.  Maintains responsibility for managing and providing services to plan, and encourage the gainful employment of students and adults with developmental disabilities.  Collaborate and develop relationships with school individuals, families, school districts and businesses regarding career planning, job training, and employment options.

ADVOCACY COORDINATOR:

Coordinates and facilitates self-advocacy programs.  Plans for and assist Self-Advocate in promoting the advocacy group to Expand participation.  Ensures funds for Self-Advocacy programs and coordinates fundraisers and submit funds to the County Board Business office in a timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Associate’s Degree from accredited College/University in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Developmental Disabilities, Social Work, or related field.  Three years’ experience preferred.  Position requires a high degree of accuracy, organization, and capable of prioritizing work or multitasking.  Ability to work with a variety of professionals; communicate effectively both verbally and written.  Participate with the on-call phone rotation for crisis intervention.
